The Alpha 235 is as close as I think there will ever be to such a wing. I had always said that if I could have a wing that launches like a hang glider but lands like a paraglider, I would buy it. My high performance wing is a Sensor 710 235 but as I approach 70 years old the weight of carrying that fantastic glider has become a problem. I have been flying HG since 1980 and I love the Alpha. I have been flying a WW Alpha 235 for most of 2020, primarily at Marshall/Crestline but also at Sandia Peak in Albuquerque. BTW - I'll leave mine rigged for prone and use bar adapters for seated.Ī beautiful day and a beautiful flight for you! Kudos! I'll bet that eventually I won't be the only one flying these gliders in a swing seat harness. I commented to Mike M that I thought they were smart to go after the aging pilot market. As some commenters said: It looks like WW has another winner here. Where is this?įor those of us who like to see our intended LZ from the launch and still have a long flight, this glider looks to be perfect. It looks like you have the site of my dreams. My favorite has always been big rolling open hills dotted with oak trees. I will not have quite as good glide ratio as you because I will be flying in my seated harness but that is how I get maximum enjoyment from flight (the "flying armchair" approach). Mike Meir told me that it can be as slow as only 1 or 2 mph faster than the big Condor 330! It looked like you could bank by only swinging your legs to the side most of the time. Wow! Thanks for this video report and the comments on U-Tube.
